Is Clamato required for a michelada?

No — Clamato is optional here. The base seasoning of lime juice, Worcestershire, soy sauce or Maggi, and hot sauce already makes a classic michelada, and Clamato just adds a tomato-clam-broth dimension if you want it.

  • 1 bottle (12 oz)Mexican Lager Beer (Corona, Pacifico, or Victoria)ice-cold

The Savory Mix

  • 2 tbspFresh Lime Juicefreshly squeezed (approx. 1 lime)
  • 3 dashesWorcestershire Sauce (Salsa Inglesa)
  • 2 dashesMaggi Liquid Seasoningor soy sauce
  • 3-4 dropsMexican Hot Sauce (Valentina or Cholula)adjust to taste

Rim & Garnish

  • 1 tbspTajín Clásico Seasoningchili-lime salt
  • 1Lime Wheelfor garnish

  1. Prepara el vaso

    Rim the glass

    Rub a lime wedge around a chilled glass and dip the rim in Tajín.

    Mix the seasonings

    Add the lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce or Maggi, hot sauce, and optional Clamato.

    Add ice

    Add ice, if desired.
